The Sustainable Company
The Sustainable Company project is part of the TAMOP research program of the Corvinus University of Budapest in 2010-2012. The project is coordinated by the Business Ethics Center under the direction of Laszlo Zsolnai. We suggest to understand business sustainability in an ecological perspective. In this view a company is sustainable if and only if its overall impact on nature is non-negative, that is, it does not harm nature or allows others to harm.
The project aims at exploring sustainable management models and practices. We plan to study socio-economic conditions which make progress toward business sustainability possible. We will document best practices and promising initiatives in Hungary and abroad. Also, we will analyze the conflicts and collaboration of companies with civil society organizations in environmental issues. Finally, the knowledge generation activities of companies related to environmental technologies and solutions is also an interest for us.
The project builds on and continues the “Collaborative Enterprise” research project of the Bocconi University of Milan and Corvinus University of Budapest in 2007-2010. The results of this project are summarized in the book "The Collaborative Enterprise: Creating Values for a Sustainable World" (Oxford, Peter Lang, 2010).
